The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) responded strongly to criticisms from the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) regarding the establishment of a Fact-Finding Team to address the prolonged crisis in Plateau State.

Acting Director Defend Information Brigadier General Tukur Gusau dismissed HURIWA’s claims, emphasising the team’s non-kinetic approach and significant progress in tackling the crisis.
The DHQ highlighted the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Christopher Musa’s proactive measures, deploying military hardware, intelligence personnel, and special forces to troubled areas.
“Recent operations led to the arrest of key suspects, showcasing the military’s commitment to justice and stability.
Addressing HURIWA’s misinformed statement, the DHQ called on the human rights group to verify information before approaching the media, emphasizing the need for responsible reporting on national security issues.
The DHQ warned of legal action if such mistakes were repeated, urging civil society organizations to avoid disseminating falsehoods.
General Christopher Gwabin Musa expressed gratitude for the support of Nigerians and affirmed confidence in the troops’ ability to eradicate criminality in Plateau State and the nation.
The DHQ remains resolute in its commitment to restoring peace and urges stakeholders to collaborate responsibly for the nation’s well-being.
