Don Jazzy Dismisses Claims of Favoritism at Mavin Records
Nigerian music executive Don Jazzy has dismissed reports suggesting that Mavin Records gives preferential treatment to some artistes over others.
Speaking during a recent episode of The Crea8torium Podcast, the producer and entrepreneur described such claims as illogical, noting that no record label would deliberately invest heavily in an artiste only to abandon them in favour of another act.
According to Don Jazzy, decisions regarding music releases and public visibility are often influenced by the artistes themselves.
He explained that some artistes may appear less promoted simply because they choose to release fewer songs or remain less active professionally.
The music executive also attributed many complaints of neglect within record labels to impostor syndrome and overthinking, stating that some artistes wrongly assume their colleagues are receiving better treatment.
Don Jazzy, regarded as one of the leading figures in Nigeria’s music industry, said record labels generally work towards the collective success of all artistes signed under them.
