The essential items distributed by Oba Arowotawaya and his Queen included rice, beans, umbrella, money and mosquito nets.
While addressing the gathering, the monarch expressed the hope that the gesture would give the beneficiaries of the palliative a sense of belonging.
The traditional ruler said he felt satisfied giving to the needy, pointing out that he had been doing so annually and it has become part of him.
The Elerinmo who was in a joyous mood seeing his people assured them that the economic hardship Nigerians are currently grappling with as a result of fuel subsidy removal will soon be a thing of the past.
Oba Arowotawaya said that he shared with his subjects and entire Nigerians the pains occasioned by the subsidy removal with the attendant increase in prices of goods and services, saying that he is, however sure that the pains would soon become a thing of history.
“Yes, the pains of the current economic hardship is real, it is sharp but the government has taken the right step to put an end to it and I want to assure you my people and entire Nigerians that these pains will soon become a thing of the past, things will soon turn around for the good of the country.
“Similarly, I am using this period to warn you to always be law-abiding, be prayerful and love each other, as you know that our town, Erinmo-Ijesa is known for being a peaceful town all over, don’t foment trouble while am calling on my other traditional rulers in the country to emulate this kind gesture for the betterment of their subjects as well as their community,” the monarch added.
While responding, the Saba of Erinmo-Ijesa, High Chief Taiwo Agbonmagbe who spoke on behalf of Elerinmo in Council appreciated Oba Arowotawaya and his Queen, Olori Aderonke Odunayo-Ajayi, for their usual support and love for his subjects.
The Saba added that “This is not the first time our Kabiyesi and his Queen will be doing this, they have been doing it for a long and he is enjoying making people happy always, may the Almighty God let him live long with good health and in wealth in Jesus name”.
