The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, has called on Nigerians to support the Armed Forces in their quest to ensure peace, unity, and national stability.
In his goodwill message to Muslims and troops of the Armed Forces on the occasion of the 2025 Eid-el-Kabir celebration on Thursday in Abuja, Gen. Musa emphasized that security is a collective duty.
He said: “The essence of Eid Kabir is that of wholesome sacrifice, as such, let’s continue to make unending sacrifices that will prosper our dear nation. Let us all stand together, military, civilians, young and old to build a peaceful, prosperous, and secure Nigeria. We have no other country than Nigeria. Together, we shall overcome our challenges and emerge stronger as one nation under God.”
Gen. Musa urged citizens to support security agencies by sharing timely and credible intelligence, promoting unity, and rejecting all forms of extremism, misinformation, and disunity.
He also expressed appreciation to Nigerian troops for their courage and dedication to duty.
“To the troops on the front lines safeguarding our communities, maritime domain and borders, your courage and commitment continue to inspire hope and confidence in the hearts of all Nigerians. You are an embodiment of patriotism, and your sacrifice will never go unrecognised,” he said.
According to him, the Armed Forces remain a symbol of unity, professionalism, and discipline, fully committed to their constitutional duties of defending Nigeria’s sovereignty and supporting civil authorities in maintaining law and order.
Gen. Musa further reassured Nigerians of the military’s continued drive toward modernizing operations.
“We remain committed to upholding our constitutional responsibilities, protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Nigeria, and supporting civil authorities in maintaining peace and order across the country,” he said.
He added, “We are aware of our responsibilities, and we are determined to fulfill them with honour and integrity,” while reaffirming the military’s commitment to strengthening joint operations, improving welfare, enhancing training, and leveraging technology to confront emerging security threats.
