The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, National Inland Waterways Authority, NIWA, Mr. Bola Oyebamiji and his wife, Dr. Sekinat Oyebamiji have extended their philanthropic gestures to the Osun State permanent orientation camp of the National Youths Service Corps, NYSC situated at Ede, Osun State.

Oyebamiji’s family dug and donated a well-drilled industrial borehole to the management team of the state NYSC orientation camp as part of efforts to address the protracted water scarcity in the camp.

This is even as the NIWA’s boss maintained that his conviction to humanitarian service has no bound saying “no matter how affluent one becomes, service to humanity remains a noble privilege.”

Recall that Oyebamiji’s wife, Dr. Sekinat had during a visit to the NYSC camp experienced plethora of challenges confronting the camp with a mindset to contribute their family quota in ‘order of preference’ hence the prompt intervention and execution of the industrial borehole and other physical and moral supports given to the management of the Camp.

Speaking during the handover exercise of the newly dug industrial borehole, Mr Oyebamiji attributed the success of the gesture to the shared vision of his family particularly his wife who has always been complementing him in his avowed commitment to impact greatly in humanity.

According to him, the execution of the industrial borehole was a product of conviction to catalyse much needed welfare, enhance general well-being of prospective corps members and bring desirable comfort and increase the level of comportment for all and sundry particularly the Camp inhabitants.

Oyebamiji who described water as the most essential commodity for existence noted that the new borehole would no doubt help to addressing the camp’s water scarcity and enhancing the experience for corps members who had hitter to experienced water scarcity within the orientation camp.

“I have always been convinced to serve God and humanity no matter the condition. Giving back to the society is a duty of all regardless of status and for me service to humanity is a privilege no matter how rich one becomes. To the glory of God, this is the path I chose based on my personal conviction”, Oyebamiji added.

In her short remarks, Dr. Sekinat Oyebamiji eulogized her spouse for being a paragon of hope and inspiration to the current generation through his boundless philanthropic gestures.

Dr Oyebamiji who attributed the drilling and donation of the new borehole to the shared philanthropic commitment of the family said “our donation is not just about providing water rather it’s about empowering Corps Members and ensuring they have the essentials to thrive during their orientation.”

Expressing their profound gratitude to the Oyebamiji’s family, the State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Agbor Ndoma Obim personally hailed the strong conviction of the Oyebamiji’s family to humanitarianism saying this had no doubt distinguished them and placed them to vantage position in the society.

While praising Oyebamiji’s generosity, the NYSC State Coordinator asserted that “true wealth lies in uplifting and serving humanity as manifested in the kind gestures of this noble family.”

Obim who described the family as a perfect example of what humanity represents said the good news heard on various interventions and supports that the family had given and still giving to the people were verifiable statistics to place them far above their peers.

He urged other quite well-off individuals and philanthropists in Osun State to emulate the act of kindness as being demonstrated by Oyebamiji’s family by supporting and contributing significantly to the various needs of the NYSC Scheme in the State.

In a gesture of gratitude, the camping Corps Members expressed their endless appreciation to the Oyebamiji’s family for their swift response to the immediate challenge confronting them within the camp.

Similarly, a medical practitioner serving in the Camp Clinic, Dr. Goroti Samuel acknowledged the donation of the borehole as well as the importance of portable water supply to standard of living of the Corps Members and other inhabitants within the Camp saying its crucial role in preventing diseases like cholera among other cannot be overemphasized.

Highlight of the occasion was the formal presentation of a portrait picture to the Oyebamiji’s family by the Corps Members to register their profound gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to the kind gesture extended to the orientation camp.

It is on record that the philanthropic gestures of the Oyebamiji’s family had been felt in different areas of human endeavours most significantly in the socioeconomic, religious and academic institutions among others.
