The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has handed over 69 bags of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) as part of efforts to combat drug trafficking and related offences.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, PhD, FCAI, formally handed over the exhibits following investigations by the Command’s Anti-Narcotics Unit.
According to the Police, the exhibits were recovered on September 27, 2025, during coordinated operations. The items remained in police custody while investigations continued, leading to the recovery of additional bags of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.
After completing the necessary investigative processes, the Police handed over the exhibits to the NDLEA for further investigation and possible prosecution in line with its statutory responsibilities.
Speaking during the handover, Sanusi reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to strengthening cooperation, intelligence sharing and mutual support among security agencies to disrupt criminal networks and bring offenders to justice.
He also urged residents to provide credible and timely information to the Police and other relevant security agencies to support efforts to tackle drug-related offences and other criminal activities.
The Command assured residents of its continued collaboration with sister security agencies to improve security in the FCT and combat the harmful effects of illicit drugs.
