Federal Fire Service Extinguishes Blaze at Blake Resort, Abuja; ₦6.3 Billion Property Saved
The Federal Fire Service (FFS) responded promptly to a fire outbreak at Blake Resort, a popular event and relaxation centre in Garki II, Abuja, in the early hours of Wednesday, 4th March 2026. The fire is believed to have been triggered by an electrical surge.

Upon receiving the distress call, the FFS deployed fire appliances FFS 75 and FFS 178 from the Service Headquarters, alongside FFS 88 from the Apo Fire Station, to contain the blaze. In a coordinated effort, the FCT Fire Service also dispatched personnel and equipment to support containment operations.
Preliminary assessments estimate that property worth approximately ₦1.2 billion was lost to the fire. However, the swift and professional response of firefighters successfully salvaged assets valued at about ₦6.3 billion, preventing the fire from spreading to neighbouring structures.
The blaze was eventually brought under full control and extinguished, with no casualties reported.
The Federal Fire Service has reiterated the importance of regular inspection and maintenance of electrical installations, particularly in public facilities, as a key preventive measure against fire incidents.
The Service continues to affirm its commitment to safeguarding lives and property through rapid response, professionalism, and collaboration with relevant emergency agencies.
