Federal Fire Service Launches Executive Leadership Training to Strengthen Future Command, Operational Excellence
The Federal Fire Service (FFS) has commenced a five-day Executive Leadership Training Programme for senior and mid-level officers as part of a strategic effort to build a sustainable leadership pipeline and strengthen the future of the Service.
The programme, themed “Enhancing Strategic Leadership, Operational Excellence, and Public Safety in the Federal Fire Service,” began on Monday at the Belmont Hotel, Wuye, Abuja, under the leadership of the Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, FCNA, ACTI.
Designed to go beyond previous capacity-building initiatives that largely focused on top management, the training deliberately incorporates middle-cadre officers, recognising their critical role as the next generation of operational commanders and policy leaders. The initiative reflects a forward-looking approach to succession planning, institutional continuity, and sustained operational effectiveness within the Service.
The training is organised by the Federal Fire Service in partnership with Titans Holdings Limited and the Pan-African Leadership and Management Institute. It forms part of ongoing reforms aimed at deepening professionalism, leadership competence, ethical standards, and effective service delivery across all levels of the organisation.
Participants drawn from senior and mid-level cadres across various commands nationwide are being equipped with practical leadership tools and strategic skills required for higher responsibilities. Key areas of focus include strategic leadership and organisational transformation, governance and policy development, ethics and professional conduct, attitudinal change, future readiness, and operational excellence.
The programme also aligns with the performance benchmarks outlined in the Performance Bond signed between heads of agencies under the Ministry of Interior and the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. A core component of the bond emphasises capacity building, institutional strengthening, leadership development, and improved service delivery across all agencies.
By extending structured leadership training to middle-level officers, the Controller General is reinforcing the Federal Fire Service’s commitment to these performance targets while ensuring that emerging leaders are adequately prepared to uphold the Service’s mandate of protecting lives, property, and critical national assets.
The initiative underscores the Service’s resolve to remain proactive, professional, and future-ready in the face of evolving fire safety and emergency management challenges nationwide.
