Hajiya Sadiya Farouq, the Minster of the Ministry disclosed this during the flagging off the Stakeholders’ meeting and enumeration exercise on Thursday in Bauchi.

She said engaging the stakeholders and the corps as enumerators is the most innovative way to manage the National Social Investment Program especially the National Home-Grown School Feeding Program (NHGSFP).

“We have resolved that having the biometric data of all the beneficiaries of this program would create an avenue for better program planning.

“Implementation and would create more room for enlisting more beneficiaries. This would also foster transparency and accountability in line with government regulations,” she said.

Represented by the Director of Humanitarian Affairs of the Ministry, Alhaji Ali Grema, the Minister added saying, “it would further ensure judicious and accurate use of resources allocated to the Ministry”.

She said, “the nationwide exercise will continue beyond this first intervention, our partners who have been engaged are required to identify and capture the biometrics of each child on the program”.

Speaking earlier, Hajiya Amina Katagum, the Social Interventions Program (SIP) Focal Person in Bauchi commended FG for all the interventions in the state.

She said the NHGSFP improves enrollment of school children, creates employment, and boosts the economy of the state and that the program will help the women engaged to be self-reliant.

She disclosed that the program was targeting about 444,000 pupils to benefit from the school feeding.

However, the focal person explained that about 800 schools were omitted from the program. She said we are appealing for their inclusion in the program.

She urged the Corps members to be diligent and prove their responsibility as good citizens to put in their best during the exercise.
