FG Signs Renegotiated Agreement With ASUU to End Recurrent University Strikes
The Federal Government has signed a renegotiated agreement with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in a major move aimed at resolving the long-standing issue of recurrent strikes in Nigeria’s public universities.

The agreement was formally unveiled at a ceremony held at the headquarters of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) in Abuja, marking a significant step toward restoring stability to the nation’s tertiary education system.
The signing followed extensive negotiations and was presided over by the Minister of Education, Mr. Tunji Alausa, alongside the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad.
Speaking at the event, government officials described the agreement as a product of sustained dialogue and mutual understanding, designed to address critical concerns raised by ASUU and improve the overall welfare of academic staff, funding of universities, and the quality of higher education.
The Federal Government expressed optimism that the renewed commitment would bring lasting industrial peace to public tertiary institutions, ensuring uninterrupted academic calendars and a more conducive learning environment for students across the country.
