Born on this day in 1967 in Sokoto State, General Musa has spent decades serving his nation with courage, discipline, and unwavering dedication.
From his early days as a cadet at the Nigerian Defence Academy, Musa demonstrated a rare combination of intellect, resilience, and leadership. Commissioned into the Infantry Corps in 1991, he quickly rose through the ranks, distinguishing himself in multiple operations, including Operation Hadin Kai, where he coordinated joint missions against insurgency in Nigeria’s northeast. As the 18th Chief of Defence Staff, General Musa led the Armed Forces through some of the country’s most challenging security periods, strengthening inter-service cooperation, intelligence-sharing, and civil-military relations. His tenure was marked by transparency, professionalism, and a deep concern for the welfare of the men and women in uniform. Today, as Minister of Defence, he continues to shape Nigeria’s defence policy and national security strategy, carrying forward a legacy of courage, vision, and dedication to the nation.
Beyond his professional achievements, General Musa is a devoted husband and father, blessed with a loving family, including four children, who have been a pillar of support throughout his military journey. His wife, Mrs. Lilian Oghogho Musa, has also served the nation in her own right, leading the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA) with grace, compassion, and purpose.
On this special day, Nigerians, colleagues, and admirers celebrate not just his birthday but a life dedicated to service, patriotism, and national unity.
