...Restates commitment to troops welfare

General Faruk Commission New RSM Residence, Street Light, Soldiers Quarters 

In a bid to improve the welfare of personnel and their families, the COAS Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya yesterday commissioned the newly constructed 3 Div RSM Residence, Solar Street Lights and renovated 30 family Corporal Below Quarters in Maxwell Khobe Cantonment.

The COAS who was represented by the Chief of Logistics Army Headquarters Maj Gen OA Akintade assured the personnel of his continued commitment to improving the welfare of the troops. He charged them to give their best in the discharge of their duties and to protect and maintain the facilities.

Gen Akintade remarked that the construction of the RSM residence was undertaken to uplift the status of the RSM and improve regimentation in the Army. He urged the RSM to give his best in the discharge of his duties. He encouraged other soldiers to be diligent in the discharge of their duties.

In his remarks, the GOC/ Comd OPSH Maj Gen IS Ali appreciated the COAS for his kind gesture and for having the interest of the personnel at heart. The GOC added that the continuous support of the COAS has really been impactful as it spurs personnel to discharge their duties diligently. He noted that the need to improve security in the Cantonment informed his decision to provide the street lights in the Cantonment. Other projects embarked upon by the GOC are the renovation of the Rhino Officers Mess Fence and the construction of Officers Transit Accommodation.

Other ongoing projects inspected by the COAS Rep include remodelling of Rhino Offers Mess Fence, construction of Transit Officers Qtrs and 3 Div Small Arms Shooting Range.

In his vote of thanks, the DIV RSM, AWO AM Ghali appreciated the COAS for his commitment to improving the welfare of troops and for elevating the status of the RSM in the NA.
