Major General Usman, serving as the Special Guest of Honour, specifically commended Brigadier General Kingsley Nwoko, the Commandant of NAIS, for spearheading substantial renovations and advancements, both structurally and academically, within the school. “I am happy with the accomplishments made so far and the positive impact this has made on the institution. I am particularly greatful to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) for his continuous support and effective leadership.”

In his welcome address, Brigadier General Nwoko expressed joy at the presence of the Special Guest of Honour, senior officers, and distinguished guests. He emphasised the significance of WASA in providing an environment for social interaction among military personnel and their families, fostering peaceful coexistence with civilian communities.

The Commandant outlined notable achievements during the 2023 training year, including the procurement of technical equipment such as drones, surveillance tools, and forensic devices. He also highlighted the comprehensive renovation of the school, installation of solar inverters and electronic smart boards, curriculum updates, and enhancements in computer education and driving. These achievements align with the COAS Command Philosophy, and Brigadier General Nwoko expressed gratitude for the unwavering support from Lt Gen TA Lagbaja, the COAS.

The WASA celebration drew various dignitaries, including the Commandant of Nigerian Army Signal School, Nigerian School of Finance and Administration, and Nigerian Army Ordinance School. Additionally, commanders of formations and units within Lagos, retired senior officers, the Deputy Comptroller Customs Apapa, Chairman of Ajeromi LGA, heads of civil organisations, and numerous others attended the event. The festivities included cultural displays, dance, comedy, tug-of-war contests, awards presentations to deserving soldiers, and the exchange of gifts.
