State Chairman of the party, Samaila Burga, announced the development after a high-level stakeholders’ meeting held in Bauchi on Saturday.
Burga said the decision followed extensive deliberations among party leaders and stakeholders, stressing that the move was aimed at protecting the collective interests of members across the state.
He reaffirmed the party’s strength and vitality, noting that the large turnout at the meeting reflected sustained confidence in the PDP. According to him, party leaders must justify that trust by promoting unity, transparency, and responsiveness to members’ aspirations.
The chairman disclosed that the committee would be led by the Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Mohammed Jatau, with membership drawn from the National Working Committee, the State House of Assembly, the National Assembly, commissioners, party executives, and local government chairmen.
He added that the Secretary to the State Government would serve as secretary of the committee, while elected local government chairmen, alongside their deputies and secretaries, would ensure grassroots representation.
Burga explained that the committee’s mandate includes a comprehensive review of the party’s current position and the possibility of exiting the PDP to align with another political platform if necessary.
He noted that the party leadership would reconvene after the committee submits its report to deliberate on its recommendations and determine the next course of action.
The PDP chairman also commended members of the media for their professionalism, urging continued balanced reporting to help the public make informed decisions.
