The Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr. Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev, has called on Nigerians to embrace unity and collective responsibility in order to build a more prosperous and developed nation.
Prof. Utsev made the call on Thursday while speaking with journalists at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, shortly after attending the 27th Democracy Day Lecture.
The minister stressed the importance of national unity, urging citizens to put aside ethnic, religious and political differences and work together toward achieving sustainable development and national progress.
According to him, Nigeria’s 27 years of uninterrupted democratic governance, coupled with the achievements recorded during the three years of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, demonstrate the country’s commitment to democratic values and institutional growth.
He commended Nigerians for their resilience and dedication to sustaining democracy, noting that the continued strengthening of democratic institutions remains vital to the nation’s development.
Prof. Utsev also expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for what he described as purposeful and selfless leadership, saying the administration’s policies have provided hope and opportunities for future generations.
The minister assured Nigerians that the water resources and sanitation sector would continue to witness significant improvements under his leadership as part of the government’s broader development agenda.
He further praised the National Assembly, the judiciary, the military, other security agencies, and the media for their roles in nurturing and safeguarding Nigeria’s democratic journey.
Prof. Utsev appealed to Nigerians to continue supporting and praying for President Tinubu and members of his cabinet to enable them effectively implement the Renewed Hope Agenda and deliver greater dividends of democracy to citizens.
The minister reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to improving the welfare of Nigerians through strategic investments and reforms aimed at driving inclusive growth and national development.
