The Executive Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni has expressed deep sympathy to victims of the recent fire disaster at Fika Market, describing the incident as both unfortunate and painful.
Governor Buni said the tragedy occurred at a time when residents were making strong efforts to strengthen the local economy, noting that the losses extend beyond affected individuals to the state at large.
“This is not just a loss to the individuals but the state in general. We will support the victims to recover from this painful loss,” the governor stated.
He directed the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency to immediately provide relief materials to those affected and to conduct a thorough assessment of the damages.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for economic growth and prosperity across the state. He encouraged residents to remain resilient, expressing optimism that recovery efforts would yield greater opportunities in the future.
Governor Buni also urged traders and residents to be vigilant and proactive in preventing fire outbreaks in homes, shops, and markets.
