In a move to modernise the urban landscape, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State conducted an on-site inspection of the proposed new City Gate location in Jazu community, Paikoro Local Government Area. Accompanied by the Deputy Governor Comrade Yakubu Garba, contractors, consultants, and executive council members, Governor Bago’s visit underscores his commitment to fast-tracking the project’s design and construction.

This initiative is part of the governor’s urban renewal policy, which was set into motion last September with the announcement to relocate the Minna city gate from Chanchaga to Paikoro local government area. “This relocation aims to facilitate the expansion of the state capital and improve urban infrastructure,” he stated.

During his inspection tour, Governor Bago also visited Paiko junction, where he outlined the government’s plans to construct a roundabout to alleviate traffic congestion and reduce road accidents. His agenda continued with a stop at the Niger State Transport Authority (NSTA) headquarters in Shango, where he assessed the facilities to ensure a better working environment for the staff.

The governor’s day concluded with a visit to the Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Centre in Minna, where he expressed satisfaction with the progress of the mosque construction. These series of inspections reflect the administration’s dedication to enhancing the state’s infrastructure and quality of life for its citizens.
