Representing Gen Chibuisi at the event, Deputy Theatre Commander Maj Gen OM Bello expressed gratitude for the Foundation’s efforts in bringing smiles to the faces of the widows, especially following the just-concluded Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day.
The Theatre Commander described the program as a praiseworthy initiative that would leave a lasting positive impact on the beneficiaries. He conveyed the Theatre Commander’s appreciation for the kind gesture and extended prayers for the Foundation’s continued growth.
Ambassador Hadiza Mamman Vatsa, the founder of the Foundation, shared emotional remarks during the ceremony, expressing her delight in empowering the widows of fallen heroes. Stressing that the government cannot shoulder the responsibility alone, she emphasised the Foundation’s commitment to supporting widows of Armed Forces and paramilitary personnel. She announced plans to replicate similar empowerment programs in all 36 states of the country and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Dr Abubakar Jimoh, the Chairman of the Foundation, provided a brief background, highlighting the Foundation’s non-profit status and dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of Nigerian Armed Forces and paramilitary families. He underscored the Foundation’s recognition of the sacrifices made by patriotic individuals and its commitment to alleviating their burdens through various support services, financial aid, and educational programs.
Mrs. Hadiza Mohammed, representing the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude for the empowerment, assuring the Foundation that the items presented, including sewing machines, grinding machines, vulcanising machines, and hair dryers, would be put to good use.
The event was marked by symbolic presentations of empowerment items, dance entertainment, photographs, and the distribution of tokens, wheelchairs, and crutches to wounded soldiers at the 7 Division Medical Services and Hospital.
