Heat: Be hydrated by taking adequate water – Sanitarian warns

As we are gradually moving into a period of heat that will be difficult to bear day and night, people have been advised to be well hydrated by taking water intermittently in order to avoid the period.

An Environmental Health Practitioner and President Well-being of the Teesside University Student Union, Sanitarian Femi Abolade gave this advice in a press statement issued and made available to newsmen.

Sanitarian Abolade said, we are gradually entering a period of heat that will be difficult to bear day and night due to heat waves resulting from the emission of greenhouse gases.

The Environmental Health expert who advised people to stay hydrated said, in order to cope with the current climate conditions, people should cultivate altitude of drinking more water to stay hydrated always at this period.

Sanitarian Abolade said, “needs also be stressed that public should also wear their nose masks and check periodically their medical status in order to avert sudden death”.

Sanitarian Abolade also voiced worries regarding the health implications of fasting which highlighted the potential dangers associated with the ongoing fasting during extreme weather conditions.

He said, the concern arises as individuals observe fasting rites in climates characterized by harsh weather patterns saying, this scenario raises alarms regarding the vulnerability of fasting individuals to various health risks exacerbated by challenging environmental conditions.

According to Sanitarian Abolade, harsh weather is known to come with its related problems like dehydration and the risk of diseases such as meningitis and measles.
