Igbajo Chieftaincy: Release committee report —Ruling houses beg Gov Adeleke

By Richard Akintade, Osogbo

Some ruling houses in Igbajo community, Boluwaduro Local Council of Osun State, once again appealed to the Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke to release the reports and recommendations of the committee set up to review the chieftaincy matter of the ancient town.

It would be recalled that Governor Adeleke had declared the thrones of Akirun of Ikirun, Aree of Iree, including the Owa of Igbajo occupied by former APC chairman, Oba Gboyega Famodun, vacant and set up a committee to review their appointments and to ensure there was strict compliance with due process of chieftaincy declarations and native law, custom, and tradition.

Three Ruling houses in Igbajo in a press release signed by Prince  Olumide Oladele, Adewole Alabi, and Adekunle Martins Ogunleye and made available to newsmen in Osogbo, lamented that the reports and recommendations of the committee set up to make recommendations by the governor on way forward has not been released.

The concerned ruling houses noted that some few individuals who considered themselves to be above the laws and customs of the land were using their access to the corridor of power to usurp and desecrate the selection of monarchs.

The ruling houses said it was disheartening that the reports and recommendations of the committee which was set up to review and make corrective and restorative recommendations on the way forward had not been released nor made public many months after the completion of the assignment.

They noted that the non-release of the reports and recommendations of the report committee had already emboldened some people to boast that there was nothing the Adeleke administration could do on the matter

The aggrieved ruling houses also appealed that quick and immediate implementation of the said recommendations of the review committee be carried out in order to prevent further desecration of the hallowed Owa stool and throne.
