The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has emphasized the importance of research, documentation, and continuous professional development in modern policing.
Disu made the call on Thursday while attending the formal launch of two books authored by his predecessor, retired Inspector-General of Police Sunday Gabriel Ehindero, at the Police Resource Centre in Abuja.
The books, Reflections on Policing and Security and My Adventure in Policing Nigeria, were unveiled at a ceremony chaired by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
In his remarks, the IGP described the publications as valuable reference materials for contemporary policing, noting that they provide practical insights into law enforcement and security management.
He urged police officers across the country to prioritize knowledge acquisition, stressing that preserving institutional memory and understanding the evolution of policing practices are critical to improving operational effectiveness.
Disu added that strengthening professionalism within the force through continuous learning would enhance service delivery and support the broader goal of upholding the rule of law.
The event attracted senior police officers, security stakeholders, and dignitaries, highlighting the significance of knowledge sharing in advancing policing standards in Nigeria.
