IGP Disu Opens PMF Trainers’ Course, Charges Personnel to Strengthen Tactical Readiness
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has formally opened a specialised Training Course for Trainers and Instructors of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) at the PMF Training College, Ende-Hills, Nasarawa State.
The training, which commenced on Friday, August 28, 2026, brings together selected PMF trainers and instructors from across the country and is designed to strengthen instructional capacity, enhance tactical competence and improve the operational readiness of the Force’s 84 PMF Squadrons.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Operations, DIG Umar Shehu Nadada; Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the PMF, AIG Alonyenu Idu; Commandant of the PMF Training College, Ende-Hills, DCP Sunday Audu Peter; Commandant of the Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Commandant Brah Samson Umoru, as well as commandants of other PMF training colleges.
The Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, who made a brief appearance at the ceremony, congratulated the IGP on his leadership and ongoing efforts to strengthen the Nigeria Police Force.
In his remarks, AIG Alonyenu Idu commended the IGP for his leadership and commitment to repositioning the Police Mobile Force. He said the training would further equip personnel to preserve the professional standards, reputation and operational effectiveness of the Force’s tactical arm.
Addressing the participants, IGP Disu described the programme as a strategic investment in the future of the Police Mobile Force, noting that Nigeria’s evolving security environment demands continuous learning, adaptation, discipline and tactical competence.
He charged the trainers and instructors to become “force multipliers” by ensuring that the knowledge and skills acquired during the programme are effectively transferred to personnel in their respective formations.
The IGP stressed that the modern PMF must go beyond conventional tactical capabilities by integrating intelligence, precision, discipline, professionalism and respect for the rule of law into its operations.
He urged participants to view the programme as an opportunity to build practical competence rather than merely obtain certificates, emphasising that effective training must ultimately translate into improved operational performance and better protection of lives and property.
The ceremony featured tactical displays and practical demonstrations by personnel participating in the training, showcasing their discipline, skills and operational capabilities.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to continuous professional development, modernisation, personnel welfare and the provision of appropriate operational tools and platforms.
The Force said the initiative is part of broader efforts to ensure that the Police Mobile Force remains a disciplined, agile and dependable tactical capability, prepared to respond effectively to emerging security challenges and protect communities across Nigeria.
