IGP Disu Reaffirms Commitment to Transparency, Accountability in Police Reforms

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has reaffirmed his commitment to building a more transparent, accountable, and people-centered Nigeria Police Force, declaring that openness and institutional integrity remain at the heart of ongoing reforms within the Force.

The IGP made the remarks during an Emergency Conference with Commissioners of Police and members of the press held at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Centre in Abuja.

Addressing senior officers and journalists, Disu stressed that transparency must remain the foundation of modern policing and public trust.

“Transparency is the foundation of the new Nigeria Police Force I am committed to building. I have nothing to hide, and neither should any officer under my command,” the IGP stated.

He noted that accountability within the Force would continue to be pursued decisively, especially in matters involving misconduct, abuse of office, and violations of professional standards.

The Inspector-General also emphasized that reforms under his leadership are focused on strengthening professionalism, operational discipline, respect for human rights, and public confidence in policing across the country.

According to him, the conference provided an opportunity for the Force leadership to directly engage Nigerians through the media, reinforcing the commitment of the Police to responsible policing, openness, and institutional reform.

The Nigeria Police Force further assured citizens of its determination to improve service delivery and restore public trust through integrity, discipline, and accountability.
