Interior Minister Reaffirms Commitment to Institutional Reforms, Improved Service Delivery

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening institutional reforms, improving service delivery, and enhancing internal security administration through accountability and performance-driven leadership.

The Minister made the pledge while speaking at the 2026 Management Retreat of the Federal Ministry of Interior and its agencies, where he urged officials to sustain ongoing reforms and raise performance standards in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Tunji-Ojo emphasized the need for stronger commitment across the Ministry and its agencies to ensure that government policies translate into tangible improvements in service delivery and internal security management.

In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Magdalene Ajani, described the retreat as an important platform for reviewing institutional performance and strengthening accountability across the Ministry’s operations. She noted that key areas of focus include border management, correctional services, and citizenship administration.

The retreat also featured goodwill messages from several stakeholders, including the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Reformatory Institutions, a representative of the Permanent Secretary of the Career Management Office in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, and a representative of the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Interior. Also present was the Secretary to the Board of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board.

The speakers commended the Ministry for its ongoing reforms and stressed the importance of sustained collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government in strengthening internal security administration, correctional services, and institutional governance.

The retreat brought together top management staff of the Ministry, heads of agencies, and senior officials to review performance indicators, refine policy strategies, and develop actionable frameworks aimed at improving service delivery across Nigeria’s interior sector.
