Mahama made the announcement on Wednesday at Kotoka International Airport, shortly after taking delivery of his new Bombardier Global 6500 aircraft.

“My old plane is now an air ambulance for every Ghanaian,” the businessman said, according to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, the country’s state-owned media outlet.

The aircraft will be used to support emergency medical evacuations and critical health interventions nationwide, helping to strengthen rapid response during medical emergencies.

The donation comes as the Ghana National Ambulance Service continues efforts to improve emergency healthcare response in the country. The service recently announced plans to procure 400 additional ground ambulances and 500 medical motorbikes to address shortages in emergency transport.

Mahama, one of West Africa’s prominent business figures, has investments across sectors including mining, construction, and agriculture. His latest philanthropic gesture is expected to significantly boost emergency medical response capabilities in the country.
