Kawuri Suicide Bomb Attack: BRAVE-IT sympathizes with victims, urges military to intensify efforts
By Matthew Eloyi
Borno State was rocked by tragedy Wednesday evening when a suicide bomb attack by a Boko Haram element struck the town of Kawuri, in Konduga Local Government Area, resulting in the deaths of at least 18 individuals and leaving many others seriously injured.
The Building Resilience Against Violent Extremism Insurgency and Terrorism (BRAVE-IT) has expressed profound sorrow over the incident and called on the military to intensify their efforts to prevent a recurrence of such attacks, underscoring the critical need for increased security and protection for vulnerable areas.
In a press statement signed by its National Coordinator, Dr AK Peters, and made available to our reporters, BRAVE-IT lamented the attack, especially considering their ongoing efforts to promote vigilance and resilience among vulnerable communities in the northeast.
“This is a very sad night for us at BRAVE-IT, particularly as we have been preaching increased vigilance and resilience to the vulnerable communities in the northeast. This is as sad as it is unfortunate and regrettable. Not Again,” the statement read.
BRAVE-IT extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, the residents of Kawuri, and the entire Borno State. The organization called on communities prone to terrorism to remain resilient and vigilant and to collaborate closely with security agencies by promptly reporting any suspected Boko Haram allies.
“Never again should we go to sleep without properly securing our communities,” BRAVE-IT urged, emphasizing the need for heightened security measures.
