LG Crisis: Osun Masterminds condemns killing of innocent souls
By Richard Akintade, Osogbo
The Osun Masterminds has condemned the killings of several Osun indigenes, including Hon. Remi Abbass and a host of others recently.
According to the civil society stakeholders during their monthly press conference on the happening in Osun State on Wednesday said, the killing of these persons was a testament to the irresponsible manner in which the Local Government issues have been handled.
The Executive Director of the Masterminds, Prof. Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli, while fielding questions from journalists said, Local Government, being the closest arm of Government to the masses, cannot be enveloped in crisis of this manner.
“Aside from slowing down development, the threats to the lives of ordinary community dwellers is unnecessary, and at best, mindless.
“We demand that all parties to the issues take resolve the issues through clear legal processes immediately as the Local Governments must resume work immediately, without threat to life.
“We have keenly followed the brickbats that followed the Appeal Court Judgment of February 10, 2025 and we must state unequivocally that all political gladiators in the State have not acted in the best interest of peace, and security of lives and properties.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have particularly refused to respect the provisions of the rule of law and clear Judicial processes.
“We believe that legal ambiguities are better resolved through laid-down judicial processes. Where any party believes there are ambiguities in the Appeal Court Judgment, the honourable thing would be to approach the same Court for clear interpretations of the Judgment.
“Instead of seeking judicial clarifications, both parties has resorted to self-help and the chaos that has ensued in the State is the outcome. This is quite unfortunate and we condemn the actions of both parties in entirety” the NGO concluded.
