The operation, conducted in Sector 3 Nigeria on July 17 and 18, 2024, underscores MNJTF’s ongoing commitment to eradicating insurgency in the Lake Chad Basin region.

Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, the Chief Military Public Information Officer at MNJTF Headquarters in N’djamena, Chad, stated this in a press statement on Friday.

According to the statement, on July 18, troops launched an offensive in Yashinti Village, Nganzai Local Government Area (LGA), in Borno State, Nigeria.

The operation resulted in the elimination of four terrorists and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, three AK-47 rifle magazines, and seven rounds of 7.62mm x 39mm special ammunition.

In separate clearance operations across several locations in Nganzai LGA, including Gajiram, Marram, Tumtumari, Layinma, Kulunkiya, Gadayi Tumtumari, and Kodayi, troops neutralised another four terrorists who were attempting to disrupt agricultural activities. Further demonstrating their tactical prowess, MNJTF troops conducted a night ambush at a known terrorist crossing point in Kukawa LGA. This led to the elimination of one more terrorist, with troops recovering an AK-47 rifle, six magazines, and 118 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.

These successful operations not only weaken the insurgents’ operational capabilities but also bolster the safety and confidence of local communities, reaffirming MNJTF’s dedication to restoring peace and stability in the region.
