In a statement issued on Wednesday by Ambassador Mary Abayomi-Fatile, the Convener of PSNAFSA, the group extended condolences to the family of Lt. Gen. Lagbaja, his friends, and the entire Nigerian Army.

“Our hearts go out to his family, friends, and the entire Nigerian Army during this difficult time. May his legacy continue to inspire and motivate us all,” the statement read.

Fatile emphasised that his contributions will “forever be etched in our hearts and minds,” underscoring his unwavering commitment to the Nigerian military and to the nation as a whole.

The group noted that throughout his career, Lt. Gen. Lagbaja held significant roles within various military units, showcasing exemplary leadership and a deep commitment to the welfare of soldiers.

“He was a true advocate for the soldiers, always prioritizing their welfare and well-being,” the statement continued.

According to the statement, Lagbaja’s tenure as Army Chief was marked by strategic advancements in the fight against insurgents, highlighting his vision and leadership.

“The Nigerian Army has lost a quintessential leader, and our nation has lost a true patriot,” Fatile said.

“We will always remember Lt. Gen. Lagbaja’s selfless service, his commitment to excellence, and his unwavering dedication,” she added.
