Musawa Calls for Innovative Financing, Public–Private Collaboration to Grow Nigeria’s Tourism, Creative Sectors

The Minister of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, has said Nigeria’s tourism and creative industries are at a defining moment, stressing that sustainable growth in the sectors depends on innovative financing and strong strategic collaboration between the public and private sectors.

Musawa made this known during the Tourism, Arts and Creative Stakeholder Engagement held in Lagos, where she met with industry leaders, creatives and financial institutions to explore pathways for building a more resilient and investable ecosystem.

According to the Minister, the engagement focused on developing practical financial solutions, strengthening value chains and positioning Nigeria’s tourism and creative industries for long-term economic impact.

She commended Sterling Bank and Mytorrista for their leadership and foresight, as well as the Office of the Special Assistant to the President for Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, Ayo Xtreme, for convening the dialogue.

Musawa also praised the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Sterling Bank, Abubakar Suleiman, for championing investments in ecotourism across Nigeria, describing the move as a vital step toward unlocking new opportunities in the sector.

She reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to partnering with stakeholders to advance Nigeria’s tourism, culture and creative economy, expressing optimism that continued collaboration will drive inclusive growth, job creation and global competitiveness.
