Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk’s net worth has reached an estimated $1 trillion, according to Forbes, following a sharp rise in the value of his companies.
Forbes estimated that Musk’s wealth increased by $30.6 billion since Friday, putting him well ahead of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, whose net worth was estimated at $371.5 billion.
The latest surge in Musk’s fortune was driven by strong performances from two of his biggest companies. Tesla shares rose after the electric vehicle maker reported stronger-than-expected third-quarter deliveries, while SpaceX shares gained more than five per cent in Monday morning trading.
Musk had previously crossed the $1 trillion mark in June after SpaceX began public trading, but his fortune subsequently fell below the threshold a few days later.
The latest increase reinforces Musk’s position as the world’s wealthiest individual, with the bulk of his fortune tied to his stakes in Tesla, SpaceX and other companies he controls.
