In a bid to fortify collaborative efforts aimed at safeguarding Nigeria’s airspace, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) have affirmed their commitment to exploring innovative solutions and strategies.

The Managing Director of NAMA, Engr Umar Farouq, led a delegation to engage with the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, and his team at NAF headquarters in Abuja on February 22, 2024.

During the interface, Engr Farouq emphasised NAMA’s pivotal role in securing the nation’s airspace and expressed appreciation for the existing cooperation between the two organisations. He underscored NAMA’s dedication to fostering collaboration with NAF, yielding notable improvements in airspace management, safety, and overall national security.

Engr Umar highlighted potential areas of collaboration, including Search and Rescue coordination, technology and innovation, as well as information sharing and data exchange. The aim is to achieve substantial benefits through joint efforts.

Responding to the discussions, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar acknowledged the enduring cordial relationship between NAF and NAMA, emphasizing its positive impact on Nigeria’s airspace security. The Chief of the Air Staff conveyed optimism about reaching new heights of collaboration, envisioning safer and more secure skies for the country. He assured Engr Farouq of NAF’s unwavering commitment to consolidating and strengthening the existing relationship.

Air Marshal Abubakar also extended congratulations to Engr Farouq on his well-deserved appointment, expressing confidence in his ability to elevate the agency to greater heights. The visit saw the presence of key directors from NAMA, including Mr John Tayo, Director of Air Traffic Services, Engr (Mrs) Theresa Ihenachor, Director of Safety Electronic and Engineering Services, and Alhaji Ahmed Abba, Director of Special Duties.
