NAF Strikes Terrorisrs Base in Katrina, Zamfara
The air component of Operation HADARIN DAJI has intensified its aerial assaults on terrorists’ hideouts in Safana Local Government of Katsina State, achieving the desired results.
The air strikes, which took place on March 5, 2024, targeted the base of the notorious terrorist leader, Maudi Maudi, and other terrorist leaders located south of Tsaskiya in the Safana LGA of Katsina State.
According to the statement signed by Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force, “the air strikes were based on thorough Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance operations carried out in the area, where groups of huts were spotted among rocky hills,” he said, ascertaining that the surveillance also verified a large number of armed terrorists roaming around the huts, after which the clearance to strike was given.
A post-strike Battle Damage Assessment showed the target location on fire, with some survivors seen running away. Although many terrorists were killed, it is still unclear if Maudi Maudi was among them.
Similar air strikes were also conducted on March 6, 2024, at the base of the infamous terrorist kingpin Alhaji Na-Shama, situated to the east of Ussu village in the Nasarawar Mailayi District of the Birnin Magaji LGA of Zamfara State. Credible human intelligence has confirmed the killing of several of Na-Shama’s followers and the complete destruction of his camp and equipment. It is yet to be confirmed if Na-Shama was among the casualties.
The accurate air strikes by NAF aircraft have continued to produce the expected results, including the killing of several terrorists and the demolition of their vehicles and motorcycles. These efforts helped to safeguard civilian lives and disrupt their logistics bases and transportation.
The statement reiterayed that, this proactive approach is in line with the mission objectives of Operation Hadarin Daji, which mainly aims to secure the Northwestern region of Nigeria from the threats of terrorism, kidnapping and banditry.
