NANS Extols TETFund’s Vital Role in Tertiary Education Infrastructure

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has reiterated its steadfast endorsement of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and its leadership, led by Executive Secretary Mr. Echono Sonny.

In a statement released on Friday night, NANS President, Pedro Obi underscored the indispensable role TETFund plays in sustaining infrastructure development across universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.

Obi emphasized, “In the light of recent discussions surrounding the indispensable role of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) in sustaining the infrastructure development of our universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education, it is imperative to underscore the critical importance of this agency to the vibrancy and progress of our tertiary institutions.”

He continued, “Under the exemplary leadership of Mr. Echono Sonny, the Executive Secretary of TETFund, significant strides have been made in addressing the pressing infrastructure needs of our academic institutions.”

Obi highlighted TETFund’s contributions to modernizing facilities and enhancing research capabilities, emphasizing its pivotal role in advancing higher education in Nigeria.

He added, “It is evident that without the crucial support provided by TETFund, our tertiary institutions would be left vulnerable and ill-equipped to meet the demands of contemporary education.”

“Take away TETFund, and our universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education will go naked, deprived of the essential resources needed to thrive in an increasingly competitive global landscape,” Obi emphasized.

NANS stands firmly in solidarity with TETFund and its leadership, rejecting any form of distraction that may undermine the agency’s pivotal role in advancing educational infrastructure.

“We call upon all stakeholders to continue to lend their unwavering support to the leadership of TETFund, ensuring the effective delivery of its mandate for the betterment of our tertiary institutions and the collective progress of our nation,” Obi urged.

“Now, more than ever, is the time to rally behind TETFund and safeguard the future of our tertiary education system,” he concluded.
