The Nigerian Association of Small, Medium and Enterprises (NASME) Bauchi State Chapter has commended Gov. Bala Mohammed for patronising indigenous furniture firms in the state.

Alhaji Yelwaji Malia, Chairman of NASME in Bauchi, gave the commendation in an interview with newsmen on Tuesday in Bauchi.

He noted that such a gesture has had great ripple benefits to the local economy and created employment opportunities for unemployed citizens in the state.

Malia said the governor was commended for awarding contracts of chairs of executives and political office holders of the 20 local government areas to four indigenous furniture firms in the state.

Malia, also the chairman of Malia International Furniture Company limited, said that over 100 people working under the company would benefit from the project.

“I was given six local government areas of the Central zone that includes Ñingi, Misau Dambam, Ganjuwa ,Warji and Darazo to supply office furniture.

“Which includes chairs for the chairman, drawers, desk, conference hall furniture and confidential secretary.

“As well as office furniture of seven directors, four councilors and Head of Administration offices,’’ he said.

Malia said the project had given members of the association a sense of belonging as an indigenous furniture firm that produces quality and standard chairs for offices.

The chairman also appreciated the governor for trusting an indigenous contractor and assured him that the job would be delivered in a week.

He said the government was carrying out numerous infrastructural projects which have direct bearing with the yearning and aspirations of the citizens in the state.

The NASME chairman appealed to the government to always patronise indigenous construction firms for projects, adding that the Federal Government was often seen prioritising foreign contractors over them.
