He said that the FG through the NCPC which has the mandate to take Christians to all Holy Sites in the world was committed to sustaining that mandate.

Pam said the global health concern prevented Christians in Nigeria from visiting the Holy Sites in Israel, hence attention was channelled to Jordan where Jesus was baptized and other prophets played roles in Jordan.

According to him, Jordan was where Moses handed over to Joshua and Moses was granted a view of the Promise Land at Mount Nebo.

Pam stated that nearly 2500 pilgrims were expected to visit the over 70 Holy Sites in Jordan depending on the screening from NCPC.

The executive secretary who also commended state governments’ support for pilgrimage so far, said the exercise presented an opportunity for pilgrims to pray for peace and development.

Pam said “pilgrimage to Christians is like a message on a spiritual journey to heaven, reminding us that we are all pilgrims here on earth.

“And that prophets have in particularly places performed divinely during their ministry here on earth where when we read we still want to follow their footsteps,” he said.

Pam who warned pilgrims against flouting COVID-19 rules while in Jordan, also cautioned them to “avoid acts that could dent the good image of Nigeria.”

He further charged the pilgrims to reflect on their lives while in Jordan and imbibe the lifestyle of Jesus.
