NDLEA Arrests Three Persons With Disabilities for Drug Trafficking, Seizes Drugs Worth Billions

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested three persons with disabilities in separate anti-drug operations carried out in Anambra and Kwara states, while also recording major drug seizures across the country.

Among those arrested was 60-year-old Romanus Nwabara, who was apprehended in Akpaka Forest, Onitsha, Anambra State, after NDLEA operatives acting on intelligence reportedly recovered 250 grams of skunk packaged in retail sachets from him.

In another operation in Ogbunike, Anambra State, officers arrested 25-year-old Amos Kenneth with various illicit substances, including Tramadol, Diazepam, Extol 5, and skunk.

Similarly, NDLEA operatives in Kwara State intercepted a commercial vehicle along Bode Saadu and arrested another suspect, Usman Salisu, after discovering 6.3 kilograms of skunk concealed in a school bag.

In a separate major operation, officers of the NDLEA Special Operations Unit raided a mansion in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, allegedly used as a drug stash house.

During the raid, operatives recovered 4,000 parcels of Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, weighing 2,326 kilograms with an estimated street value of over ₦5.8 billion. Two Mercedes-Benz buses and packaging materials used for retail distribution were also seized from the property.

Elsewhere, NDLEA operatives arrested Emmanuel Osita Okeke with 129 kilograms of skunk in Nyanya Karu, Nasarawa State.

Along the Okene-Lokoja highway in Kogi State, officers intercepted a commuter bus heading to Abuja and recovered 766 kilograms of skunk concealed in 76 jumbo bags. Three suspects identified as Mathew Omohove, Ebuka Desmond, and Babangida Musa were arrested in connection with the seizure.

In another raid at Ijora Badia, Lagos, NDLEA officers uncovered a makeshift skuchies production factory where two suspects, Bose Jamiu and Gbenga Gege, were arrested while allegedly mixing cannabis with other illicit substances.

The agency said 270 litres of already prepared skuchies and quantities of Tramadol were recovered during the operation.

Beyond enforcement activities, the NDLEA also continued its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation campaigns across schools, communities, and institutions in several states including Nasarawa, Ekiti, Enugu, Abia, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Kano, and Oyo.

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Mohamed Buba Marwa, commended officers involved in the operations and urged commands nationwide to sustain the momentum in combating drug trafficking and abuse across the country.
