Nigerian Ambassador Presents Letters of Credence to Côte d’Ivoire President
Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, His Excellency Ezenwa C. Nwaobiala, has formally presented his Letters of Credence to the President of Côte d’Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara, marking the official commencement of his diplomatic mission in the West African nation.
The ceremony took place at the Presidential Palace in Abidjan on June 18, 2026, where Ambassador Nwaobiala, accompanied by his wife, Lady Chidinma Nwaobiala, formally presented the credentials issued by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Nwaobiala conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of President Tinubu to President Ouattara and the people of Côte d’Ivoire. He reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening the longstanding ties of friendship, cooperation, and partnership between the two countries.
In his remarks, President Ouattara welcomed the Nigerian envoy and reiterated the importance of the cordial relationship between Côte d’Ivoire and Nigeria. He expressed his readiness to work closely with Ambassador Nwaobiala to deepen bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest, particularly regional integration, trade, and economic development.
The presentation of the Letters of Credence underscored the strong diplomatic relations between the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, while reaffirming both nations’ commitment to promoting peace, stability, and prosperity across West Africa.
Speaking later at a reception held in his honour by members of the Nigerian community in Côte d’Ivoire, Ambassador Nwaobiala noted that both countries are united by shared history, common aspirations, and a collective commitment to African unity and development.
He expressed appreciation to President Tinubu and the leadership of Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to discharge his duties with humility, dedication, and a firm resolve to advance Nigeria’s interests while strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
The ambassador also emphasized the importance of enhancing people-to-people relations, economic collaboration, and regional partnerships as part of efforts to further consolidate ties between Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire.
