Nigerian Army Promotes 47 Brigadier Generals, 75 Colonels

The Army Council, on Thursday, December 21, 2023, approved significant promotions for senior officers, elevating 47 Brigadier Generals to the rank of Major General and promoting 75 Colonels to the position of Brigadier General.

Among those promoted to Major General are Brigadier General WB Etuk, Commandant of the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management, Brig Gen JE Osifo, Commandant of the Nigerian Army School of Finance and Administration, and Brigadier General WM Dangana, Commander of Sector 3 Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, among others.

The list also includes officers elevated to the rank of Brigadier General, such as Col Nwakonobi, Chief of Staff Headquarters 3 Brigade, Col MC Akin Ojo, Commander 41 Engineer Brigade, and Col MO Edide, Directing Staff Army War College Nigeria, among others.

Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, extended his congratulations to the newly promoted senior officers and their families. He urged them to redouble their efforts to justify their elevation and the confidence placed in them.

This promotion marks a significant step in recognising and rewarding the dedication and service of these officers within the Nigerian Army.
