In a relentless effort to eradicate the remnants of the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) and their JAS counterparts in North East Nigeria, the gallant troops of 7 Division Nigerian Army have continued their offensive operations.
On Friday, March 22, 2024, a Combat Team (CT) of the Division conducted an aggressive clearance patrol, targeting areas where terrorists were known to be hiding with hostages. The operation resulted in the successful clearance of six villages previously occupied by the terrorists.
Engaging the terrorists in a fierce gun battle, the CT neutralised five of the terrorists and successfully rescued 78 individuals, including 35 women and 43 children who had been held captive by the extremists.
The villages cleared by the CT include Ngurusoye, Sabon Gari, Mairamri 1 and 2, Bula Dalo, and Bula Dalo extension, along with Yamanci and Gargaji general areas. Among the items recovered during the operation were a terrorists’ flag and a mobile phone belonging to the insurgents. The rescued victims are currently in custody for preliminary investigation and profiling.
The troops remain committed to sustaining the momentum of Operations Desert Sanity III, as they continue to root out terrorists and insurgents from the North East region.
