NIPSS Assures Public of Safety After Security Incident Near Institute
The National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Plateau State, has assured the public that normal activities have continued uninterrupted following a security incident that occurred in the vicinity of the institute on Tuesday morning.
In a statement issued by the Head of the Public Affairs Department, Dr. Osime Samuel, the institute said the situation was swiftly brought under control through the prompt intervention of security personnel and other relevant security agencies.
According to the statement, normalcy has since been restored, with no further threat to the safety of participants, staff, residents, or facilities within the institute.
NIPSS disclosed that security agencies have commenced investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, stressing that it would be premature to speculate on the nature, scope, or outcome of the event while inquiries are ongoing.
The institute also cautioned the public against relying on unverified information circulating on social media and other unofficial platforms, noting that it could not confirm the authenticity of such reports.
It urged members of the public and media organisations to depend solely on official statements from NIPSS and relevant security agencies for accurate information.
Dr. Samuel stated that the institute is working closely with the appropriate authorities and will make verified information available as investigations progress.
