Nkechi Blessing Reveals She Rejected First Nollywood Role Over Script Requiring S3x Scene With a Dog

Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing has revealed that she once turned down her very first movie role after discovering the script required her to perform a sex scene with a dog. She said accepting such a role could have derailed her career before it even began.

Speaking on the Honest Bunch Podcast, Blessing recalled attending an audition organised by producer Aremu Zimba, where several young actresses competed for the controversial part. Despite her desire to break into the industry, she said the script crossed a boundary she was never willing to compromise.

“When he gave me the script, I had never acted before or ever been on screen,” she said. “In the script, I was supposed to sleep with a dog. I knew I couldn’t start my career like that because whatever you start with becomes a tag.”

Blessing said she immediately rejected the offer, even though many other actresses rushed to accept it out of desperation for a breakthrough. “I’m not sure any of them are in the limelight today,” she added, emphasising the need for self-respect and long-term thinking.

She urged aspiring actors to choose their paths carefully, noting that early decisions can shape their reputation and future in the industry.

“Start right,” she advised. “Know what you want for yourself and never compromise your values for a moment of opportunity.”
