Ododo Reaffirms Tough Stance on Insecurity, Unveils Security Equipment in Kogi

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has reaffirmed his administration’s uncompromising stance against criminality, declaring that no part of the state will be surrendered to bandits, kidnappers, or other criminal elements threatening the peace and security of residents.

The governor made the declaration during an inspection of vehicles and security equipment procured for security agencies at the Government House in Lokoja.

Governor Ododo stressed that the protection of lives and property remains the foremost responsibility of his administration, describing security as the foundation upon which sustainable development and economic growth can thrive.

He disclosed that following recent security briefings with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, his administration had renewed its determination to confront criminal elements and sustain efforts aimed at restoring peace across the state.

According to the governor, he has personally visited affected communities, particularly Iluke, to assess the security situation firsthand rather than relying solely on reports. He said the visits provided a clearer understanding of the challenges facing residents and reinforced the need for decisive action.

Ododo further revealed that the state government has commenced the deployment of specialised security assets, including armoured protective vehicles and other operational equipment, to strengthen the capacity of security agencies in tackling emerging threats.

The governor categorically ruled out any form of negotiation with criminal groups, insisting that his administration would not enter into deals with bandits or kidnappers.

He reiterated his commitment to reclaiming all areas threatened by insecurity and ensuring lasting peace across Kogi State, assuring residents that the government would continue to work closely with security agencies to safeguard lives and property.

Governor Ododo maintained that his administration remains resolute in its determination to eliminate criminal activities and create a secure environment that will support development and improve the wellbeing of citizens.
