Operation FANSAN YAMMA Rescues Kidnap Victim, Foils Terrorist Attack in North-West
Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have intensified offensive operations across the region, rescuing a kidnapped victim in Kaduna State and foiling a terrorist attack in Sokoto State.
In Kaduna State, troops of Sector 1 responded to a distress call on 20 August 2026 following the abduction of a 43-year-old man around Awon Community in Kachia Local Government Area.
The troops swiftly mobilised to the area and pursued the terrorists into the surrounding bushes, forcing the attackers to abandon their captive and flee. The rescued victim was subsequently reunited with his family.
Similarly, on 21 August 2026, troops of Sector 2, in collaboration with local security elements, responded to a terrorist attack on Kwaren Gamba Village in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The troops engaged the attackers in a gun battle and successfully forced them to withdraw in disarray. During the subsequent pursuit, one terrorist was neutralised, while troops recovered two mobile phones, cash, an ATM card, recharge cards and other items.
The latest operations demonstrate the sustained pressure being mounted by Operation FANSAN YAMMA against terrorist and criminal elements across the North-West, while highlighting the importance of rapid military response and timely intelligence in protecting vulnerable communities.
The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, said the Theatre Command remains resolute in its efforts to deny terrorists freedom of action and create a safer environment across the Joint Operations Area.
He reassured residents that troops would continue to respond decisively to emerging threats and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide timely and credible information to security forces to support ongoing operations and efforts to restore lasting peace and security across the region.
