Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have forced suspected terrorists to flee and abandon a motorcycle during a fierce encounter in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The incident occurred on Monday, August 10, 2026, when troops conducting a routine patrol encountered the terrorists at a crossing point in Ruwan Lafiya, Kankara LGA.
According to military sources, the troops immediately engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to retreat in disarray and abandon their planned movement in the area.
During the encounter, the fleeing terrorists left behind a Boxer motorcycle, which was subsequently recovered by the troops and taken into military custody for further investigation.
Following the engagement, troops intensified patrols, surveillance and area domination operations to prevent the terrorists from regrouping and to deny them freedom of movement within the affected communities.
The successful operation highlights the continued efforts of Operation FANSAN YAMMA troops to disrupt terrorist and bandit activities, protect vulnerable communities and sustain security across Katsina State and the wider North-West.
