Osun Assembly Pledges Support For Osun Health Insurance Agency

The Speaker of the Osun State House Of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun has pledged the support of the 8th Session of Osun State House of Assembly to the Health Insurance Scheme in the State and also commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for taking proactive steps in improving the state’s healthcare system.

Osun Assembly Speaker stated this on Thursday when the Management of the Osun Health Insurance Agency paid an advocacy visit to the State Assembly. Egbedun explained that the assembly would continue to endorse the transformative policies and initiatives aimed at enhancing the well-being of Osun residents, with the ultimate goal of positioning the state as a leading light in Nigeria.

Hon. Egbedun lauded the advocacy visit by the Osun Health Insurance Agency (OSHIA) and also commended the efforts of Dr. Razaq Akindele, the Executive Secretary of the agency, to the parliament, in fostering initiatives aimed at providing qualitative health for the people of Osun State, through the Osun Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS).

He pledged the 8th assembly’s full support to the agency to facilitate improvement in the state’s health sector.

In his remarks, the Executive Secretary (OSHIA), Dr. Razaq Akindele, admonished the lawmakers to lead by example, by enrollinh their constituents into the health insurance scheme, as such step will encourage more people to key into the scheme, which is daily impacting the healthy living of the residents of the state.

Highlighting the benefits attached to the Osun Health Insurance Scheme, Dr. Akindele noted that individuals would pay #12,066 annually for comprehensive treatment, while family of six(6) would pay #57,600 per year for comprehensive healthcare coverage, stressing that the scheme has expanded its coverage to address a wide range of medical conditions, as well as expand the coverage of the scheme to 1 million enrollees by the end of 2024..

Hon. Abiola Awoyeye, representing Ife Central State Constituency lauded the efforts of the OSHIA since inception, pledged to sponsor the enrolment of 100 individuals from his constituency to start with, including the elderly, physically challenged, and less privileged individuals, in the health insurance scheme.
