Stakeholders Laud MNCH Week’s Impact, Pledge Sustainable Health Programmes in Gombe

Gombe State’s Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) Week has been hailed as a resounding success, with stakeholders emphasising the need for sustained collaboration to address the health challenges faced by vulnerable groups in the region.

Speaking at a review meeting in Gombe, Dr. Nuzhat Rafique, Chief of UNICEF Field Office Bauchi, expressed satisfaction with the programme’s achievements. She highlighted the high turnout of beneficiaries and the provision of critical health services such as immunization, antenatal care, and nutritional supplements.

“The success of the MNCH Week reflects the collective efforts of stakeholders in prioritizing the health and well-being of mothers and children,” Dr. Rafique remarked.

Echoing this sentiment, Dr. Abdulrahman Shuaibu, Executive Secretary of the Gombe State Primary Health Care Development Agency, commended the partnership among stakeholders, including UNICEF and the World Health Organisation (WHO).

He underscored the importance of the programme in addressing pressing health issues affecting women and children across the state.

The review meeting served as a platform to assess the successes and challenges of the initiative while fostering dialogue on strategies to improve future health interventions.

Representatives from WHO and other partners provided insights and recommendations to enhance the programme’s impact.

As the meeting concluded, participants resolved to bolster community involvement, strengthen partnerships, and ensure the sustainability of health initiatives aimed at improving maternal and child health in Gombe State.
