Professor Jimoh Afolabi, the Provost of Osun State College of Education in Ila-Orangun, has been suspended following allegations of financial misappropriation, according to a statement issued by the College Chairman, Dr Peter Babalola.

The decision to suspend Professor Afolabi is aimed at facilitating a thorough investigation into the accusations levied against him, as stated by the College’s governing council. The statement directs the suspended Provost to hand over all college properties under his purview to the deputy provost and to vacate the college premises with immediate effect.

Furthermore, the statement outlines a prohibition for Professor Afolabi, restricting him from entering the college premises or utilizing any of its facilities unless invited by the governing council. It is emphasized that he cannot perform the functions of his office until the final determination of his case and a decision is reached by the state government.

The suspension underscores the commitment of the College and its governing body to uphold transparency, accountability, and the proper use of financial resources. The forthcoming investigations will shed light on the alleged financial infractions, and the college community awaits the final resolution of the matter by the state government.
