Pioneering the Future: Military Pension Board Launches Electronic Verification System for Retirees

In a landmark move towards modernization, the Military Pension Board (MPB) has officially transitioned from a physical to an electronic verification system for its military retirees.

This transformative step, driven by concerns over security risks, the age of pensioners, and the high cost of transportation—especially for those living abroad—marks a significant leap in enhancing convenience and safety for the veterans.

Earlier this year, the MPB conducted a successful pilot test of the Electronic Verification Management System. From February 19 to March 1, 2024, 2,000 pensioners participated in the test, with a remarkable 99.25% success rate. The few minor issues identified have since been addressed, ensuring a robust and efficient system.

Minister of State for Defense, Dr. Bello Matawalle, and Chief of Defense Staff, General CG Musa, have both endorsed the full-scale implementation of the electronic verification exercise. Announcing this development, the MPB Chairman declared the system officially open for all retired pensioners from July 1 to September 30, 2024.

The Board is committed to extensive public awareness and educational campaigns to guide pensioners through the new verification process. All retirees are urged to participate actively, as failure to do so will result in suspension of pension payments.

A Leap Towards Secure and Efficient Pension Management this move not only ensures a safer and more efficient process but also demonstrates the MPB’s dedication to leveraging technology for the benefit of its esteemed veterans.
