President Tinubu Unveils Vision for Stronger Nigeria on 63rd Independence Anniversary
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, addressed the nation today on the occasion of Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Anniversary. In a speech both reflective and forward-looking, President Tinubu emphasized the unity, resilience, and potential of the Nigerian people.
In his address, President Tinubu paid tribute to the founding fathers and mothers of Nigeria, acknowledging their role in shaping the nation’s journey towards independence. He emphasized the importance of unity and the belief that Nigeria belongs to all its citizens, regardless of ethnicity, religion, or background.
Reflecting on the diversity of Nigeria, President Tinubu described the country as a “broad and dynamic blend of ethnic groups, religions, traditions, and cultures” with strong invisible bonds based on shared aspirations for peace, progress, prosperity, harmony, tolerance, and justice.
The President addressed the challenges faced by the nation, particularly the decision to end the fuel subsidy, which has brought about economic hardships for many citizens. He explained that this move was necessary for the long-term economic stability of the country, emphasizing that reform, although painful, is vital for Nigeria’s progress.
President Tinubu outlined several measures his government is taking to alleviate the economic burden on Nigerians. These include provisional wage increments to enhance the federal minimum wage for the next six months, support for states through an Infrastructure Support Fund, and the introduction of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to lower transportation costs.
